How to write Resume Education Section
Resume Education Section
After the work
experience section, education should be listed chronologically from most recent
to least. Always include the dates the education was completed, as this helps
employers identify the reasons for any gaps in the applicant's employment
history. At the very least, the name of the credential and the college or
university where it was completed must be given.
Boldtype anything
you wish to highlight, such as your completed degrees. No need for too much
detail here. Be concise by showing only your major as well as any awards and
distinctions received.
To be impressive,
list grade point averages of 3.5 or better and highlight any courses of study
engaged in currently as it relates directly to the position you seek.
If your awards and
commendations are impressive, give them a section of their own. Always quote
sources to substantiate.
Don't include:
With rare
exception, don't list your high school degree. If you're in college the employer
knows you have one. The only exception would be if you are a freshman or
sophomore and attended a special or well-known high school for outstanding
students, or something similar. By junior year, you need to be showcasing your
college accomplishments. By graduate school, list college and graduate level
work only.
